Troy Lawson's career has spanned the fields of higher education, consulting, and non-profit management. He has been a director of admissions for several for-profit schools, a sales consultant, and executive director for a non-profit in Maryland.
Mr. Lawson has been a lifelong activist and for over 40 years he has worked to promote the conservative issues he is passionate about. After several years of organizing, fundraising, recruiting, and promoting the local political party, he was elected to be the first African-American Chairman of the Guilford County GOP. Mr. Lawson has continued to lead the GOP in fundraising, candidate recruitment, promotion, and outreach to young and minority conservatives. He served with distinction as Chairman from 2017-2019.
He and his wife, Stephanie, relocated to Greensboro in 2015. Stephanie is a native of High Point and worked for Cone Health Women's Hospital in labor and delivery for 20 years. She is now a wellness coach in High Point. They have two grown daughters, Melissa and Olivia. Mr. Lawson has a degree in Communications from Boston College and a MBA from Strayer University. He and his wife enjoy finding new restaurants in Greensboro and spending time with their two rescue dogs, Oscar and Winnie.
